A handle redesign project to assess and fix the comfort levels of simple tools. The tagliol is a standard glass blowing tool used by many that has simply avoided redesign. I addressed this by adjusting comfort levels and creating a unique asymmetrical grip that can be held multiple ways by all hand sizes. Both the handle and blade were fabricated and tested throughout three ideations. The final prototype is cast from a heat resistant silicone resin, and the blade is welded stainless steel, with a brass collar for fit. All photos shot by Gabrielle A. Shamon.
